What Does "Nutrient Dense" Actually Mean?

What Does "Nutrient Dense" Actually Mean?

One of the biggest misconceptions I see parents fall into is assuming that organic, natural, or healthy automatically means nutrient dense. I get it - these words are everywhere on packaging, and they sound like they're telling you everything you need to know.

But when it comes to what you're feeding your little one, what's on the label isn't always what matters. What's on the inside is. Take two pouches sitting side by side on a shelf. They might look almost identical. But pick them apart, and the story changes. One might be high in sugar, leaning on synthetic vitamins to replace nutrients that simply aren't there naturally, and falling short on the protein and iron growing bodies need. The other is built differently - packed with organic fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, quality protein, and all the essential nutrients your child needs to thrive.

That's the real definition of nutrient dense: not what a product claims to be, but what it actually delivers. It's exactly the thinking behind every Odi recipe.

With love,
